چکیده

Instances of such “arithmetic 1-extensions” naturally arise in arithmetic geometry and in geometry of numbers. In this talk we discuss an arithmetic analog of the Enriques-Severi-Zariski Lemma in classical algebraic geometry: namely, if X is a projective integral scheme over SpecZ and if the class of EQ in the classical extension group Ext1XQ(EQ, FQ) does not vanish, then for “many” points P in X (Q), the restriction EC of E to the arithmetic curve C := P , closure of P in X , defines a non-trivial element in Êxt 1 C (EC, FC). The proof relies on properties of Poincaré series for SL(2)Q.

Titles versus titles and abstracts for initial screening of articles for systematic reviews

BACKGROUND There is no consensus on whether screening titles alone or titles and abstracts together is the preferable strategy for inclusion of articles in a systematic review. METHODS TWO METHODS OF SCREENING ARTICLES FOR INCLUSION IN A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW WERE COMPARED: titles first versus titles and abstracts simultaneously. Each citation found in MEDLINE or Embase was reviewed by two physic...

Active ingredients are reported more often for pharmacologic than non-pharmacologic interventions: an illustrative review of reporting practices in titles and abstracts

Key components of healthcare interventions include 'active ingredients' (intervention components that can be specifically linked to effects on outcomes such that, were they omitted, the intervention would be ineffective). These should be reported in titles and abstracts of published reports of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). However, reporting of non-pharmacologic interventions (NPIs), par...

The GUC Goes to TREC 2004: Using Whole or Partial Documents for Retrieval and Classification in the Genomics Track

We were interested in examining the relative effect of using parts of the documents, different combinations of parts of the documents, or whole documents on retrieval and classification. We were also interested in the effect of MeSH terms on retrieval. Our experiments show that indexing titles, abstracts, and MeSH terms for adhoc retrieval yielded statistically significantly better results than...

A Method to Retrieve Papers from MEDLINE: PETER System

We attempted to eliminate non-relevant papers from results of PubMed searches for each topic. The system is called PETER (PubMed Enhancer Toward Efficient Research) and it works as follows. 1. get LocusLink IDs manually. 2. collect information of gene names (AKA synonyms) from public databases. 3. make synonym variations automatically. 4. search papers by PubMed with each synonym. 5. extract ti...

Applying the Perceptron Rule for Extraction of Keywords from Abstracts

In this ongoing work, we investigate a model that applies the perceptron training rule for extraction of keywords from abstracts and titles. We have tested our model on a set of abstracts of Academic papers containing keywords composed by the authors. Current results have not indicated any success of our learning approach.
